Mrs. Dawn Rauwolf

Dawn Rauwolf 3rd-4th Grade

In 2012, I graduated from the University of Alaska Southeast, with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and a Minor in Business Administration.  I completed the Alaska Teacher Preparation Program for Elementary Education in 2014.  In my senior year, I served as the President of the UAS Ketchikan Alpha Rho Beta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.

During the 2014-2015 school year, I was privileged to teach a combined 3rd and 4th grade class at Holy Name Catholic School.  I’ve also worked as a substitute teacher in Ketchikan since 2011, and I volunteer my time as a coach for Little League Softball and the Ketchikan Softball Club.

I have been married to my best friend, David Rauwolf, for 17 years now. I was 20 years old when we met! We have been together for over half my life and we still laugh and make each other happy every day. We have three children. Two attend Kayhi and one is at Schoenbar this year. I know it’s a cliche, but they really do grow up FAST! It’s been one of the greatest joys of my life to be a mom.

This is my 4th year teaching a combined 3rd and 4th grade class here at Tongass School of Arts and Sciences. I am fortunate to have a great team teaching partner – Clint Shultz. We work together every day and we have fun with our shared classroom!

Dawn Rauwolf-2Over the past 12 years, I’ve joyfully said, “yes!” to teaching project-based art classes to various classrooms and organizations. In the  summertime, I use my 100-ton Coast Guard License to run a tour boat out to Misty Fjords National Monument.  I love the art and profession of teaching and I believe that students need to have dedicated and inspiring teachers.

I love, love, love being in the classroom with students! I enjoy the energy, the questions, and the smiles!! I believe that young people need a strong support system – people who will provide guidance, understanding, and care. I strive to be one of these caring adults for your kiddo!

Here is a short list of some of my favorites, in no particular order:

my family, dark chocolate, mosaics, red and turquoise together, big earrings, seafood, the beach, reading, hardy houseplants, original colorful art, LIFE – as in STAYING ALIVE, and… humorous stuff!
