Mr. Shultz, 3rd and 4th Grade:
I have had the wonderful opportunity to be in education for the last nine years, where I have been a Highly Qualified teacher for the last six years. I am very excited for this upcoming year, and feel honored to be a part of the Tongass School of Arts and Science family. My wife, Tory, and I have three beautiful young children. Our oldest daughter Bria is three years old, Bailey is almost two, and our new addition, Noah is 8 months. We have had a very exciting adventure as parents, and every day is a wonderful experience. Our family loves to hike, kayak, rock climb, and spend time in the outdoors. Our children have been an extension of what we love, and we include them in almost every activity that we can. My father was a teacher and school psychologist, and opened up a lot of wonderful experiences in my educational life. After High School graduation, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where I became a third generation Marine. After four years, I pursued my educational career, receiving my Bachelors and Masters of Teaching from the University of Alaska Southeast. Right after I received my teaching degree, my wife and I applied for teaching positions back in Northern Alaska, where we spent four years teaching in Gambell and White Mountain. We have been back in Ketchikan the last two years and consider Ketchikan to be our home.
I am very excited for the new opportunities that I will have at Tongass School. Education has always been a passion for me, and I see this love of teaching and learning among the staff and students. I look forward to the new discoveries and possibilities that will evolve over the next school year, and the wonderful
